Getting Started with the Attention Arcade
What You Need to Know
Studies have shown that stronger attention skills lead to better academic outcomes. Choosing the Attention Arcade is a great first step for your students! And remember, we are here to help you succeed.
Below, you can learn about the theory behind the games, the research that shows their effectiveness, and how to set your students up for success. If you ordered a complete computer system with the Attention Arcade, you should have instructions in the box to get started. If you need to install the eye tracker on one of your computers and download the software, please watch this video:
Congratulations, you made a great choice! Attention training can have a big impact on your students’ academic performance (and life skills) with just 20 hours of training. The even better news is that you should start seeing improvements after just 5 hours of training.
While you already understand that there is a link between attention and academic performance, it may be even more connected than you realize. Here is a 15-minute video to explain more about the importance of attention skills and how the Attention Arcade works:
Having weak attention skills can make learning as hard as learning to ride a bike (every day of school). That is just one of many things we cover in the video.
The Attention Arcade can deliver measurable results (learn more on The Science page) in as little as 3 weeks. In order to get those results, students need to train 20-30 minutes per day at least 3 times per week. So, one of the most important things you can do is to figure out how it will fit into your students’ day.
Research has shown that it helps to have a trigger. Here are a few suggestions:
Fitting it into the school day can be challenging with all of the other demands of the classroom. However, I think you will find the benefits outweigh the hassle of finding the time. Training regularly is important because playing the Attention Arcade is like exercise! You have to do it regularly to get the benefits. (That’s why I exercise before breakfast, every day.)
With regular training, you will likely see improvements in your students’ attention skills. All of the participants that completed the training in our initial clinical trial saw improvements in at least one area of attention after regular training — most saw it in all three areas.
As you may have noticed by now, we are all about measurable results at BrainLeap. So, we want to make it easy for you to see your students’ progress. You can do that at:
Once you are logged in, click on Your Stats. There you can see how much time your students have played, which games they played, and their scores on the assessments.
Please Note: The assessment scores are best used to measure a player’s improvement from one assessment to the next. They are not an accurate assessment of attention challenges on their own.
To see different students, there is a dropdown menu to switch between players.
